Our Ministries

Sharing Faith. Strengthening Families. Serving Communities.

Circle J Ministries International serves communities throughout Malawi through Christian outreach, practical assistance, and long-standing partnerships with local pastors and community leaders.

Our work is rooted in sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and demonstrating His love through compassionate service. From equipping rural churches to creating opportunities for widows and supporting children and families, we seek to meet both spiritual and practical needs.

We believe lasting ministry is built through relationships, local leadership, and a commitment to the communities we serve.

Widows & Orphans

Building Stability, Independence, and Hope for Families

In Malawi, poverty, illness, and the loss of family caregivers can leave women and children facing significant challenges. Widows may struggle to provide for their families, while children in sibling-led households often take on responsibilities far beyond their years.

Circle J Ministries works alongside local partners to strengthen families through practical assistance, vocational opportunities, and compassionate care.

Creating Opportunities for Women

For more than a decade, Circle J has partnered with Hope for Widows, a Malawian organization helping women develop sustainable livelihoods.

In 2018, donor-funded sewing and knitting equipment helped widows in Lilongwe begin producing handmade goods, including school sweaters, purses, rugs, table linens, and jewelry.

These skills and resources create opportunities for women to earn income and provide for their families. Circle J also brings some of these handmade goods to the United States for sale, with proceeds supporting the work in Malawi.

Supporting Children and Families

Circle J also works with local ministry leaders to identify the needs of children and families facing food insecurity, limited resources, and the loss of caregivers.

One area of planned expansion is community feeding support for children living in sibling-led households. The goal is to improve access to nutritious meals while supporting family stability and school participation.

Community

Discipleship & Bible Clubs

Circle J supports Christian discipleship through locally led church classes and voluntary school Bible Clubs.

Our discipleship curriculum has been translated into Chichewa, helping pastors and congregations continue teaching after visiting mission teams return home.

School Bible Clubs also provide opportunities for children and young people to participate in Christian teaching with the involvement of local educators and pastors.

Supporting Local Pastors

Pastors serving rural communities often oversee multiple congregations with limited resources.

Circle J provides requested teaching materials, ministry supplies, and opportunities for training and fellowship through regional conferences for pastors and their wives.

By equipping those who serve locally, we help strengthen ministries that remain active throughout the year.

Community Programs

Practical Care That Strengthens Communities

Circle J Ministries believes that meaningful outreach includes responding to the everyday challenges families and communities face.

Working alongside Malawian pastors, educators, and community leaders, we support initiatives that promote education, health awareness, opportunity, and long-term stability.

Education & Youth Support

Our work in schools creates opportunities to build relationships with students, teachers, and local communities.

Alongside Christian education and discipleship, Circle J helps provide educational resources and supports school-based activities that encourage learning and personal development.

HIV/AIDS Awareness & Prevention

HIV/AIDS continues to affect families and communities throughout Malawi, including children who have lost parents or caregivers.

Circle J works with local pastors and schools to provide age-appropriate awareness and prevention education, helping young people access practical information and compassionate support.

Community Enrichment

Our community-focused work has included scripture distribution, support for local churches, care for widows and children, and environmental stewardship initiatives.

Rather than approaching these needs as isolated projects, we seek to build ongoing relationships that allow local leaders to identify priorities and help guide the response.

Evangelism & Church Planting

Sharing the Gospel. Equipping Leaders. Growing Local Churches.

Evangelism is at the heart of Circle J Ministries.

Through school outreach, the Jesus Film, discipleship programs, and partnerships with local pastors, we seek to share the message of Jesus Christ while helping establish and strengthen churches throughout Malawi.

Jesus Film Outreach

The Jesus Film has become one of Circle J's primary tools for reaching rural communities.

Using portable projection equipment, local pastors bring screenings to villages where access to Christian teaching and established churches may be limited.

Circle J has helped provide portable Jesus Film systems that allow local leaders to continue outreach throughout the year.

These screenings also help pastors identify communities where ongoing Bible teaching, discipleship, and new congregations may be established.

Planting and Strengthening Churches

Over the past decade, Circle J Ministries and its partners have helped establish more than 60 congregations throughout Malawi and Zambia.

Our involvement continues beyond the establishment of a church. We work with local leaders to help congregations access teaching materials, resources, and practical support as they grow.

Some congregations meet in permanent buildings, while others gather in schools, temporary shelters, or outdoor spaces.
